Schematic illustration of the possible mechanisms. Briefly, the activation of the cGAS/STING/NF-κB pathway was induced by subarachnoid hemorrhage, resulting in the expression of inflammatory genes and microglial activation. This activation led microglia to polarize towards the M1 phenotype, resulting in neuroinflammation through increased production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which could ultimately worsen brain injury.
