Increased type I IFN expression by SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Splenocytes were collected from mice in the Control and Spike groups for flow cytometric analysis. The population of CD4+IFN-α+, CD4+IFN-γ+ (Th1), CD4+IL-4+ (Th2), CD4+IL-17+ (Th17), and CD4+CD25+FOXP3+ (Treg) cells were measured by flow cytometry in splenocytes of the Control and Spike groups. *P < 0.05 (unpaired/two-tailed t test)
