Schematic representation of the proposed communication and signaling pathways. BMX and TMZ combination triggers cell cycle arrest, autophagy, and apoptosis in human colon cancer cells via upregulation of p53/p21/Puma and downregulation of the Wnt/β-catenin/c-Myc/p62 pathways. It is noted that autophagy also contributes to cell death under the opposite status of β-catenin/p62 axis, suggesting that there exists a negative feedback regulation between Wnt/β-catenin and autophagy. Red color indicates upregulation. Green color green indicates downregulation
