Schematic of cerebral organoid culture. First, pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) were cultured as embryoid bodies (EBs), and then differentiated into neuroectoderm. Neuroectodermal tissues were then maintained in 3D culture and embedded in droplets of Matrigel to provide a scaffold for more complex tissue growth. These Matrigel droplets were then transferred to a spinning bioreactor to enhance nutrient absorption.
