Schematic model for the regulation of CaUTR2 expression by the transcription factor CaCrz1 in response of C. albicans cells to extracellular calcium stress. Influx of extracellular calcium ions to the cytosol leads to the activation of calcineurin, which in turn dephosphorylates and activates CaCrz1. Dephosphorylated CaCrz1 enters to the nucleus to bind to two CaCrz1 binding motifs (calcineurin dependent response element; CDRE) in the promoter of CaUTR2, which results in the activation of CaUTR2 expression
