Apo-Lcn2 induces death of rat primary IMCD cells exposed to hyperosmolarity. Cells were exposed to hyperosmotic media for 7 days to increase Lcn2-R expression and incubated with 15 μg/ml apo-Lcn2 for 24 h. Cell death was determined by measuring lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release into the medium. Means ± SEM of 4-6 experiments are shown and statistical analysis compares control versus apo-Lcn2 incubated cells by unpaired t-test. a.u. = arbitrary units
