CCN5 knock down increases MMP-2 expression in growth-arrested VSMC. Untreated, control siRNA, or CCN5 siRNA treated VSMC were growth arrested by serum starvation for 72 hr. Conditioned media were collected, concentrated, and run on an SDS-PAGE gelatin zymogram. The gel was stained with Coomassie Blue. The bands lacking stain indicate MMP activity. Bands are MMP2 (Gelatinase A) in both active (lower) and inactive (upper) forms as shown.
