Devrim Gozuacik received his medical doctor degree from Hacettepe Medical Faculty, Turkey in 1995. He obtained his D.E.A. degree of Biochemistry from the Ecole Polytechnique, Paris, France in 1997, and his PhD degree of Molecular Cell Biology from the Pasteur Institute, Paris in 2001. Between 2001-2006, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. In fall 2006, Dr Gozuacik was awarded an EMBO Installation Grant to set up his independent research laboratory in the Molecular Biology, Genetics and Bioengineering Program of Sabanci University, Turkey, where he currently works as a faculty member and a research team leader.

Dr Gozuacik is a specialist of cellular stress and death response mechanisms. Research in his laboratory focuses on autophagy regulation mechanisms in mammals, autophagy-cell death connections, intercellular communication of autophagy-related signals, and autophagy abnormalities in human diseases, including neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
